Museum Photos Collection

As an art enthusiast, I photographed artifacts and collected the history and stories behind them. Here is my own collection of the photos I took in museums around the world, including Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum, the British Museum, Chengdu Museum, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Shanghai Museum, Sichuan Provincial Museum, Sotheby’s London, Tokyo National Museum, and other historical sites.

Others

I have also traveled to many other heritage sites, museums, and galleries. For example, I went to Nara, where I visited Todaiji Temple and Kofukuji Temple. Unfortunately, I do not have enough space to display everything on this page. If you would like to learn more, please click on “view more” to see my other photographs. I’ll keep adding to my new collection once I start my tour of new museums.

Tokyo National Museum, Japan

I traveled to Japan in the summer of 2017 after high school graduation and explored a lot of cultural sites in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Nara. The Tokyo National Museum is one of my favorite sites in Japan. The collection there is really fascinating. Additionally, it made me think deeper about ethical questions involving a museum's collection of foreign artifacts.

Sotheby's London

In the summer of 2018, I participated in the Museum Studies in Oxford Program and had a chance to visit Sotheby’s London. During that field trip, I met with the senior director and she gave me a brief introduction about how the auction house works. This also inspired me to pursue arts management.

Shanghai Museum, China

As one of the biggest art and history museums in China, the Shanghai Museum boasts a large collection of Chinese art. I have gone to the Shanghai Museum every year since high school. It is the place where I could release my anxiety and soak myself in the world of alluring art. Shanghai Museum is the first place where I had deeply learned the history of Chinese art, specifically the bronze, calligraphy, and ceramics.

Chengdu Museum, China

Coming from Chengdu, Sichuan, China, I am eager to explore the history of my own city. In the spring of 2017, there was a special exhibition called the “Soul of the Silk Road” (丝路之魂) held in the museum. This exhibition displayed almost every one of the most important/famous artifacts and objects along the ancient silk road. This exhibition is really special to me since it was my first time photographing objects in a museum. This experience clarified what I wanted to do in the future.

The British Museum

During the days I was in the Oxford Museum Studies program, I spent five days in the British Museum. I mainly focused on the ancient Asian and Mediterranean art displays and took photos of numerous artworks and objects. Instead of only taking photos, I also gained a better understanding of the exhibition arrangement within the museum. Also, I noticed that audience engagement is a significant part of an art institution to maintain vitality.
